The news comes just as the show, which follows gospel sisters Erica and Tina, wraps its second season tomorrow night, Feb. 28 at 9 p.m. This year saw the birth of Tina’s baby girl and the group’s hit single “Go Get It,” which went on to win a Grammy Award.
“We’re so excited about the next season as we enter a new phase in our lives and careers,” stated Erica Campbell. “This past year has been both overwhelming and exciting and we were happy to share those moments with our fans. We are grateful to provide viewers with an honest look into who we are and how we handle our differences, and we hope to continue to inspire and encourage people through our show in addition to our music.”
Production on season 3 will begin in Los Angeles in mid-March.
*Entrepreneur/reality TV show star/R&B singer/producer Kandi Burress and Pastor/Gospel Singer Marvin Sapp have both opened up regarding harsh criticism about their collaboration on the song, “I Stay Prayed Up.”While many online say they have been “blessed” by he song, others have rejected it, citing various religious reasons.
Burruss, an unmarried “Real Housewives of Atlanta” cast member, addressed the debate about the song via her blog on Bravo’s website. Although she went into recording the song expecting some people to judge her, the single mom thought some of the direct comments were “extreme.”
In reference to how she dealt with feedback that crossed the line Burruss said:
“Can you believe a woman actually tweeted me and said, ‘Bi*#c@h you can’t praise my God?’ . . Thank God I don’t let things get to me. I’m a very open and honest person. I say what I want to say when I want to say it. If I feel like doing something.”
In defense of recording the song that has received over 100,000 views in less than a week the singer continued, “I felt that I wanted to do this song, so I did, and I’m glad I did. This song is my testimony.”
In the February 21 post: “I love Twitter, but it is an open platform for people to slay you… But lucky for me, I have just as many people or more that show me love.”
Sapp reluctantly addressed critics via a rushed Facebook post that pointed out the ministry potential of their pairing. Following is his post in its entirety:
Usually I don’t respond to people about things like this however I must this time. The problem with many in the church is 1.) that we major in minors and 2.) ignorant (not well studied) of scripture.
Lets deal with the first, This woman who was an ex R&B singer that sells sex toys and live with her man decided on a show that reaches 10 million viewers per showing (believers and unbelievers) to sing about,,,, Not sex toys, drugs or living with a man but PRAYER!!!!!! and the saints are upset.
The lyric says, “I stay prayed up, that gets me by, that how I made it through my darkest time, see I’m a sinner and thats no lie, but thank God my prayers are heard because he knows I try” Wow!!!!! nothing elicit or comprising about the lyric….
So lets look at how Jesus dealt with the sinner….. From my study of scripture the only people he checked was the church (religious people of that day) however the sinner he consistently showed COMPASSION!!!!!!! Examples…… Woman caught in the ACT of adultery Also the Woman at the well……. Never exposed them publicly, dealt with them privately. We as believer major in minors…… So caught up in the messenger that we are missing the message “Staying Prayed UP”.
Now I close with this…Everyone that God used in scripture was flawed and or had struggles…. Let me call the roll….. Moses was a murderer, Rahab was a harlet (whore), David was a murder/adulter and still considered a man after Gods own heart, Peter was a cutting cusser however was in the inner circle of Jesus, Paul was a murderer and made many blaspheme against God however wrote 2/3 of the NT, He spoke through a Donkey and if we decide to be quite rocks will cry out…
We say we are christians which means being Christ-like but question peoples motives that model his behavior….The bible speaks about witnessing and that you need to be wise to win souls and Paul says I became all things to all men that I might win some…. Compromise was never done here nor do I condone her life style or life choices and keeping 100 you don’t know the off camera conversation we had. Again big picture 10 million people at 1 time were challenged to PRAY in difficult times WOW!!!! Thats Awesome and Ministry…..
PS Didn’t spell check because I’m late to a meeting…. Be Blessed
Billy Dorsey, a Grammy, Dove and Stellar Award-winning producer and songwriter – according to Breathcast – echoes Sapp’s sentiments, also notes Christ’s tendency to step outside of the church in his ministry.
“If Sapp is looking at it from a ministry perspective, Jesus didn’t hang around with the people “church folk” figured He should have,” says Dorsey. “He hung out with those who in all aspects were beneath His righteousness, but He used that to lift them up to greatness. You can’t help someone up if you’re not willing to get close enough to let them lean on you.”
When it comes to U.S.
cities that embrace the Bible, Jackson, Miss., is at the top of the list. The
newly released ranking from American Bible Society finds Jackson residents have the #5
highest combined levels of regular Bible reading and belief in the Bible’s
accuracy.
A closer look at the findings show a trend
related to population density. Of the top 25 Bible-minded markets, only three
have a population of greater than 1 million households: Charlotte, N.C.;
Nashville, Tenn.; and Raleigh/Durham, N.C.

American Bible Society's study of America's Most
Bible-Minded Cities found that while the Bible Belt performed strongly,
Colorado Springs, Colo., deemed the No. 1 "holiest city" by Men's Health
just two years ago, has now fallen to the middle of the pack. And, debunking any
sense of a single, monolithic region, other stereotypically known Bible Belt
cities fell to the mid-range rankings include Houston, Texas; Tulsa, Okla.; and
San Antonio, Texas.
*NBA Star Dwight Howard told the media that he wants to use his NBA career to raise the name of God within the league and throughout the world; however, the 27-year-old athlete’s actions are contradictory of his words, says Christian News.
But some Christian critics don’t think he should be the example for the faith because he’s not been living the example he’s trying to set.
Reports recently emerged, claiming he’s got five babies with five different women who he’s not been married to. Maybe that’s not the best look for a Jesus preaching man.
But should that stop him from sharing his faith with the world, using his fame as a platform?
Kandi Burruss Releases
Gospel Song with Marvin Sapp, Sparks Controversy

Kandi Burruss, the singer-songwriter and producer, is responding to criticism after her recent
release of the gospel song "Prayed Up" featuring pastor and gospel singer Marvin Sapp.
Burruss possesses many titles, including a reality television star of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta"
and entrepreneur who has a line of intimate bedroom toys called "Bedroom Kandi."
She also hosts a late-night show online called "Kandi Koated Nights" where she talks about all things pertaining to intercourse. Additionally, the 36-year-old singer-songwriter ventured into the gospel world with "Prayed Up," where she
admitted to being a sinner while sharing her testimony.
"I stay prayed up, That gets me by / That's how I made it through my darkest times / Yeah I'm a sinner and that's no lie," Burruss sings in the song. "Thank God my prayers are heard cuz he knows I try / Yeah I stay prayed up, yes I stay prayed
up / The only way I made it through my pain is through God's
favor."However, some questioned Burruss' decision to release the record, saying "So Kandi has a gospel album out talking about being prayed up. Meanwhile, her site has her
hosting a 'male revue for the ladies,'" one person tweeted. Another individual followed the same sentiments on the social networking website.
"Kandi is coming out with a gospel song," one person questioned. "The same Kandi who sells sex
toys..?"However others defended the singer-songwriter in a debate on the social networking
website.
"I guess everyone that is criticizing Kandi for making a gospel track leads a perfect life and has never done anything wrong then," one person tweeted.
Another person thought Burruss' decision to release a gospel song was a great idea.
"It's funny that 'religious' folks have a say in who can sing gospel and spread the word," the person tweeted. "I think it's great that Kandi can reach people."Burruss' took to her own Instagram account that became number one on iTunes gospel charts Monday."I knew when I decided to do it that I would be criticized. That's to be expected," Burruss wrote on the photograph sharing website. "I am honest about who I am. My great grandfather and my grandfather were Bishops in The Church of God Holiness.
I believe in God but I have always struggled with the rules of the church, just like a lot of people."The singer's new song also received backing from the likes of Sapp and singer
Fantasia Barrino."I wanna thank @Kandi for sharing her heart through song in a different genre and asking me to be apart of that process," Sapp wrote on his personal Facebook
page.
Barrino called the song nothing short of a masterpiece.
"It's a great song & my MD Javon Hill has his hands in this project," Barrino tweeted.
"Together he @kandi & Marvin Sapp have created a masterpiece!"
He was 80.
Bob Steiner, an assistant to Buss, confirmed Monday that he died in Los Angeles. Further details were not available.
Buss had been in the intensive care unit at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with cancer, according to a report last week from the Los Angeles Times, and he had been visited ahead of All-Star Weekend by several current and former Lakers players, including Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson.
Throughout the weekend, current and past NBA players had been sending their well-wishes his way, via Twitter.
A former aerospace engineer and real-estate developer, Buss has been a prominent name in American sports since he bought the Lakers, the NHL's Los Angeles Kings, The Forum arena in Inglewood, Calif., and a 13,000-acre Southern California ranch from Jack Kent Cooke in 1979 for $67 million.
Buss, a self-styled playboy, immediately transformed the Lakers into the NBA's most glamorous franchise, winning 10 NBA championships under his watch.
"I really tried to create a Laker image, a distinct identity," Buss said, according to the Times' obituary. "I mean, the Lakers are pretty damn Hollywood."
Still, at the time of his purchase of the franchise, the NBA had fallen into second-class status among major professional sports leagues as several teams stood on the brink of bankruptcy.
In the Lakers, Buss—who would also become a world-class poker player—saw a gamble worth taking. They already had center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and the team picked the effervescent Johnson out of Michigan State in the 1979 draft.
With former Lakers star Jerry West maturing into a gifted general manager, the team won an NBA championship in Buss’ first season as owner.
Johnson, Abdul-Jabbar and Michael Cooper guided the Lakers to five titles in nine years.
By the time of his death, Forbes had placed the team’s value at $1 billion, second-highest in the NBA behind only the New York Knicks, as of last month.
"Jerry Buss helped set the league on the course it is on today," NBA commissioner David Stern told the Times. "Remember, he showed us it was about 'Showtime,' the notion that an arena can become the focal point for not just basketball, but entertainment. He made it the place to see and be seen."
Under Buss, the front-row seats at Lakers games became prized spots, a place that attracted Hollywood's most beautiful, including actors, musicians and other LA celebrities and power players.
After the Lakers’ 1980s resurgence, Shaquille O'Neal and Bryant led the Lakers to a three-peat from 2000-02 under coach Phil Jackson before Bryant and Pau Gasol won two more titles in 2009 and ’10, their last under Buss.
His children have moved into leadership roles with the Lakers in recent years. Jim Buss, the Lakers' executive vice president of player personnel and the second of Buss' six children, has taken a leading role in basketball decisions, while daughter Jeanie plays a major role in running the franchise's business side.
Yet Jerry Buss was deeply involved the Lakers' most recent major moves, including the acquisitions of Steve Nash and Dwight Howard last summer, along with the quick-trigger firing of coach Mike Brown and the surprise hiring of Mike D'Antoni early this season.
None of those moves has been particularly successful. The team is outside the top eight in the Western Conference standings at the All-Star break, and if it fails to make the playoffs could be considered one of the most disappointing teams in NBA history, if not professional sports history given expectations going into the season.
Buss had been hospitalized several times in recent years, including a stint last July for dehydration. He was treated for blood clots in his legs in December 2011.
Jerry Hatten Buss was born Jan. 27, 1933, in Salt Lake City, and his parents divorced when he was an infant. He married at 19 and shortly thereafter moved to Southern California, where he would earn a doctorate in chemistry and work briefly in the aerospace industry.
In the late 1950s, he and a colleague, Frank Mariani, formed a real-estate investment company that grew to earn them a fortune in residential properties, hotels and office buildings.
