The Annual Stellar
Gospel Music Awards show will air live on GMC (Gospel Music Channel) for the
first time ever. For the past 27 years the show has been taped and re-aired on
several syndicated channels but in 2013 all of that will change. The show will
take place on January 19, 2013
from the Grand Ole Opry in
Mary Mary leads the nominations with 9 and will also co-host the show with Kirk Franklin. Others
nominated are Charles Jenkins with 8 nominations, Marvin Sapp and Fred Hammond
have 6 nomination and Isaac Carree and Andre Crouch have 5 each. Bishop TD Jakes
will receive the Thomas A. Dorsey Most Notable Achievement Award; the James
Cleveland Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to gospel music great
Kurt Carr ; and the Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones Legends Award will be bestowed
upon Inez Andrews for her contributions to the
industry.
The Chicago-based Central City Productions, Inc. (CCP) produces the Stellar Gospel Music Awards.
It has been 27 years since the first awards show was taped at the Arie Crown
Theater in
the premier Gospel event that recognizes and honors African American artists.
This one of a kind award show has showcased top Gospel artists and many
television and film stars.
The Stellar Gospel Music Awards show is executive produced by Don Jackson and produced by Barbara
Wilson for Central City Productions. Founded in 1970 by Don Jackson,
Chicago-based Central City Productions is a distributor of original programming
to television and cable networks.
